MemeSCP is an online gaming community that primarily hosts public SCP: Secret Laboratory (or SCP:SL) servers. Northwood Studios granted MemeSCP the ability to host official servers[a] in the E.U West region.[1]

Structure

Staff hiring

MemeSCP solicits staff members in irregular intervals through announcements in their Discord server. Prospective staff members fill out an application via a Google Form within the allotted time, and then members of management review them. Once the review is complete, an announcement is sent announcing the applicants who were accepted. Applicants are permitted to, and encouraged, to apply more than once in the event a prior application was unsuccessful. Solicitations used to include the minimum requirements for applicants to be considered, though more recent solicitations have simply advised readers to find them in the application itself.

The community has publicly solicited for staff members 9 times. Bolded items indicate a change in requirements from the previous solicitation.

Redolant announces a modded Minecraft server is released running the modpack "Feed the Beast Revelation".[15]

Shiro announces that SCP:SL server player slots were increased to 30.[16]
February 4, 2021
Redolant announces the servers are undergoing a DDoS attack. An announcement 48 minutes later declares a firewall was established which minimized the attack.[f][17]
February 16
Shiro announces that the SCP:SL servers, previously brought offline, are back up and marked as official[a][18].
March 10
Shiro announces that the SCP:SL servers are down due to the physical location that holds the VPS for MemeSCP catching fire.[19] The servers returned 4 days later on March 14.[20]
November 28
Shiro announces various changes being made to the SCP:SL rules, plugins, and gameplay configuration due to requirements set forth by Northwood's "Official Server Rules" (OSR). They elaborate that they are not changeable and to direct feedback to Northwood. They further declare that anyone acting "maliciously in any way against Northwood Studios" will result in discipline, up to permanent removal from MemeSCP.[21]
