The aim in reporting on this information is two-fold. Firstly, it allows members of the community to understand how their own "government" works, as it is rarely explained to those not participating in it. Secondly, it allows community leaders to in a centralized place be exposed to varying governance styles. This can then allow them to make more informed decisions on how they want their own communities to work.

Content pillars[edit | edit source]

History[edit | edit source]

Online Communipedia aims to in as neutral a tone as possible, and with the attachment of media or links for verification, document the events of significance and cultural norms for each community. Controversies, community-wide events, transfers of power, "in" jokes, and so on.

The purpose for this is to create a permanent digital footprint of the community, as if or when the community "passes away" the only evidence of their existence is usually in the memories of those that were there. It also serves as useful research material for community leaders, current or prospective.

Governance[edit | edit source]

Online Communipedia aims to report on the structure used by those with power in a community. This generally, but not always, takes the form of a "ladder" of "ranks", with those higher on the ladder having broader authority and access to information.

There are 2 primary reasons for this. Firstly, it allows community leaders to, in a centralized place, be exposed to varying governance styles. This then allows them to make more informed decisions on how they want their own communities to work. Secondly, Online Communipedia may be the only place that takes the time to explain how the governance for a particular community works. This may be of use to the members of said communities.

Policies[edit | edit source]

Online Communipedia aims to document the rules that those in power within a community enforce among it's members. The purpose for this is fundamentally the same as for the previous pillar. Such information may not always be placed intuitively within a community, especially to those new to it. Other community leaders can also see what rules are enforced within their own genre to make informed decisions on what rules they want to have for their own communities.
