This template is used in accordance with the project's policy on using copyrighted material and is mandatory when attributing material unless otherwise noted in said policy.

Usage

The invocation of this template should be done at the top of the references section of an article. If such a section does not exist yet, it should be created for this purpose.

Parameters

Parameter Purpose
source= The fully qualified hyperlink to the source material.
rationale= The rationale for using the material. Available options are below.
modified= A binary y or n if the material taken was modified before being used.

Rationale parameter options

by-X refers to the Creative Commons Attribution licenses. by-sa-X refers to the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licenses.

cc0 is for the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication license specifically. If the material is stated to be in the public domain without mentioning a creative commons license, use public.

wikipedia is for material taken from Wikipedia articles. This will generate a hyperlink to the Wikipedia article's history page to be in line with requirements regarding attribution.
